Out doing a rare-plant survey to help evaluate the environmental impact of new wind turbines, they stopped to say hi and offer me some refreshments, including "cold water" and "hot grapes".
Hey I got some rare plants they might want to evaluate, they’re not really rare but still they might want to, come to think of it they are just really weeds but still, they come from Jamaica that kinda makes em rare around here but I don’t have much left so they might wanna hurry before it’s all gone
Maybe someone should have thought about this study a few years ago before a ga-zillion wind turbines were erected in the Columbia River Gorge, where Matt is headed. Could be a little late now. Maybe he’ll snap some photos of these wind farms for us along the gorge.
hi there, what do you do for a living? oh, i do rare-plant surveys to help evaluate the environmental impact of new wind turbines. i mean, someone’s gotta do it, right?
Better then cold grapes and hot water? Oh Feng shui…..place the hot grapes in cold water and we then get balance..breath in…breath out…..Ladys …Planet Hobo says thanks….even if the grapes were hot….
Judy and Gretchen must have been as intrigued about you as you were as to what they were doing. So glad they stopped by to say hi and offer the grapes and water. Happy walking Matt!
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Yay People Interaction! I was beginning to get worried about your trip as of late.. must be lonely out West..

People! Yeh! The people shots have been few and far between lately. It’s nice to see some friendly faces.

Hot Grapes! Better than SOUR Grapes! ;)
Where they wondering what kind of specimen YOU were Matt?
I see your reflection in the sunglasses – you appear to be wearing your hat!
P.S. What kind of affect do Wind Turbans have on plant life – do they spread seeds to other than normal areas?
Oops Turbans = Turbines! :)
candice, i believe wind TURBANS will keep seeds from spreading :)
Between specimen and turbans…. you’ve got me cracking up here Candice….
I’m so glad you got to meet and talk with someone – finally!!! I’ll bet it’s been pretty lonely recently with no people-contact.
Have a good day!

Yeah for Judy and Gretchen!! We love it when you get offers of refreshment! A bonus to have some people contact on this back road.
DOES THE LOCAL LAW EVER PULL UP BESIDE OF YOU AND ASK YOU WHAT ARE YOU DOING STRANGER. I’VE WONDERED IF THEY DO.
I have wondered that too? Matt have you had any contact with the LAW?
Go Gretchen and Judy.
Thank you Gretchen and Judy for feeding and watering Our Matt! Good luck on the survey!
A Hot Grape. Is that the same as a Hot Date? Yuk Yuk!
Peace, from Michelle in Providence
