Made in Oregon
August 20th, 2010
I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out. If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania. You can read all about the details of my trip if you're so inclined.

I take it you are now in CLT, correct? Charlotte/Douglas area. That’s a big difference in climate for you. I’m glad you have some good memories of Portland through Matt’s eyes.

That sign is definitely a beacon of the area…like the “public market” sign in Seattle. It’s pretty cool to see at night…and yes, Alisa is right….the nose is red at Christmas. :)
Neat. But the building is for lease? What was made there that isn’t any more? Was this Santa’s workshop and reindeer stables? Why the big buck on the sign up there? I hope a local can shed some light on the subject for me besides the nose.

Thanks for the link Karen Too. Per Wiki, the sign is supposed to read ‘Portland Oregon’ by summer of 2010. Summer is almost gone but the sign hasn’t been changed yet. Does anybody know about this?
