I'm walking every street in New York City.
This is the counterpoint to
my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city.

Your donations allow me to keep walking full-time. If you think what I'm doing is valuable and you'd like to offer some support, I would be very grateful. On the other hand, if you think I'm a worthless bum, feel free to email me and tell me to get a job, bozo. Both are excellent options!
Thanks for posting this beautiful picture, Matt. It was the best birthday gift ever! September 24th!!!Funny, I was walking (of course) stopped in a store in Seattle. Was chatting to the sales girl about walking everywhere and your story came up also. I’m up to 30 miles in one day but pay for it the next day. I’m really thinking of walking the Pacific Coast trail in a few years. Hope to walk in NYC w/u 1 day…keep on walking dude. Lunch is on me soon. Getting ready to leave Seattle in November and head to Arizona for the Winter.
Take care, Eddy
Keep on walking Matt, I have noticed not many people comment any more like the followers you had on the cross country walk. I think what you are doing is great, it will be a long time before anybody comes behind you and matches what you are doing. I have heard if you add all of the streets together it would be over 80,000 miles, is that correct. I have been with you all of the way on both, I might miss a day or 2 here and there, but I always return. I check your site every morning and most of the time every evening. SO COME ON ALL OF YOU LEAVE SOME COMMENTS AND LET HIM KNOW YOU ARE WITH HIM.
I truly appreciate the support, Raymond (and everyone else), but no one should feel the need to comment unless they have something they want to say. I have no problem with people just following along silently if that’s what they prefer to do. I’ll probably end up walking 8,000-9,000 miles by the time I’m done, FYI.
Hey Matt, I have also noticed you don’t have as many comments (including me) that you had in the past…but I have been reading about your travels and enjoy the history lessons I learn from your info on the locations you photograph. You are doing a great job, and I hope you are still having fun. You are a great guy and David and I both wish you well. Take care!
Matt, you have some of the best photos (which I frequently comment on via Flickr instead of your blog), I really enjoy everything you share with us here, including your sense of humor. Walking with you is a blast and living vicariously through your photos and stories is fun, too! It’s nice to know someone as awesome as you and it’s refreshing to see someone who has truly come alive and is not just living. It’s inspiring for me, and I’m sure others agree with that as well. Always wishing you the best in all of your adventures!
Hay – a rockaway beach photo and we all come out of the wood work!!!
I glance everyday -for sure…wish I had the time to post…but you know .. we are all here in spirit..I think Matt knows that.
Yep, we’re all here walking with you Matt, thanks for letting us walk along. :)
Love this shot, Mother Nature always has the best colors.
Still following you Matt! I think you need more photos of the beauty on your walks, as well as the unusual and odd sightings.
I’m always fascinated by the links to facts and history. The two sunset photos of the beach were beautiful!
Adding my “ditto” to all above. While it saddens me that I missed seeing Rockaways and Breezy Pt before Sandy, I will be forever grateful to you Matt for all you have done. The U.S. trip was truly awesome. Peace. Anna
