Thanks for the info, I have wondered about this building a long time. I took a photo of the big corner door about 9 years ago and saw a beat up old sign that read “Jay Meisel Photography” which I assumed meant he once had a little studio there, not owned the whole building and lived there. These few blocks of the Bowery have drastically changed over the last decade.
This is the counterpoint to my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city. Details!
