Love ‘lush and barren’ – I grew up in west Texas so this is beautiful to me. The desert can be an awesome place, especially after the rain, or at sunrise and sunset, or at night. Humbling. Have a great holiday. Will be looking forward to seeing your July 4th pictures.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Matt it is beautiful and this isn’t the mountains either. It just gets better.
Looks like another dry river bed. I just love that silvery sage-y foliage too.
i think i need to take a walk

Your nights camping out here are going to be a whole new experience, I imagine. What a sight, and the colors of the foliage match the blue sky.
I think that foliage might be something called silver buffaloberry, but I can’t tell from here.
