The one on the right contained a bag full of notes from various friends passing through the area (as well as two Werther's Originals). I added a little message to the collection.
My thought was it could be a roadside tribute to Tim? Maybe he died there or something? Not to be a downer on this one, sorry, but it’s what I thought about after looking at it awhile. Especially with the notes in there. In the cemetery where my parents are there are things left all over some of the headstones so this wouldn’t surprise me if this isn’t what this is. And to that there is a date on the boxes. God Bless Tim.
Roadside memorial would be my guess, having nothing else but the picture to go on. Matt would know because of the ‘notes’. RIP if so, If not….cool little thing.
I’m baffled, and curious. Why bird houses if a memorial. And why two…hmmm. Or why two with the same date of a memorial…Glad to “hear and see” from you Matt. Be safe…
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
This is cool. but who gets to read the messages? Maybe the birds will use the paper for their nests?
What clever message did Matt leave? Maybe Matt can use pigeon carrier if he is out of range again.
A great idea, and way to leave messages in such a remote area.
Dear Tim….
What’s new since ’92 ?

I’m wondering also, Dorinda. This is certainly different – if it is a roadside tribute.
I wonder what you wrote, Matt. What an interesting thing to come across in the middle of nearly-nowhere.
The original ‘geocache’…=)
Yah! Or maybe he doesn’t have the interwebz and was waiting for Matt along the way….

I looked couldn’t find nothing on the date/name etc… not even about leaving notes for the dead via birdhouses but I guess it’s a cool thought.
I did find a thing on a 91 year old woman that owned the same car for almost 50 years and it has over 500,000 miles on it and still runs and she still drives it!

LOL at lifetime warranties. Them folks must be pissed everytime they see her pull up.
get out…..talk about great maintenance!!!!

Maybe a baby that was born and died on the same day? (Not to be a downer or anything, but I’ve known families where this has happened.)
I would’ve left a note, too. Love stuff like that!
Darn, no luck finding out about the birdhouses on my end either. Now I am curious. What route were they on? I might make a side-trip.
I think poor Tim loved birds. Maybe he died here watching the birds and not the traffic?
