  3. carolyn says:

Matt as always great shot. I could only image the sound of wildlife and water. breeze in the trees

  4. Amanda in WA says:

Very pretty sky! Makes me wish I could have been outside at sunset instead of working at the computer!

  5. Gigi says:

What a great shot. It’s like the tip of the trees were trying to nudge the clouds.

  6. They’re trying to reach all that BIG SKY out there! Nice shot.

  7. Terry and Janice from Missoula, Mt says:

My girlfriend and I had the good fortune to be able to talk to Matt along the highway near Ovando Mt. on the 25th . What a treat to be able to share a cold root beer and wish him luck on the rest of his trek. The scenery along the south edge of the Mission Wilderness and Matt’s excellent photography should be spectacular. This is our first post and we’ve been following the blog for about a week and a half.

    • Roe says:

Hi Missoula! Have family near Corvallis! Miss your summers!

    • Michael in Atlanta says:

Welcome to the HoboNation, Terry and Janice. Well, the virtual one. You’re front lines HobNats already!

      • Jeff says:

Terry as Michael has said – welcome to the Nation of Hobo’s. the people of Montana have been awesome on Matt’s trip. Many seeking him out on his path. What more could a man on a alone journey ask for. I am so glad you shared a root beer and not a Beer and Clam…..I cant say it, sorry Mike….

Peace and thanks for sharing info. Post on with us. Is getting a bit crowded….but there is always room at our Inn.

  8. Karen Too says:

Nice and healthy tall trees, too. Lovely.

Welcome to Julie (two firsts for you), and to Terry and Janice. The Hobo Nation grows!

  9. hks says:

Wow, great tall trees. I also notice this morning that Matt is has now entered into the map (near Missoula) on his top banner. Matt, Your in the home stretch now! Best of luck!

  10. Candice in Alabama says:

Lovely! Who doesn’t enjoy a big tall tree? Especially with blue skies behind them! Matt – you take care! Watch out for whatever curious critters might be lurking.

  11. Jeff says:

Yea…we should take a moment knowing how special this part has been – even though matt did not travel the parts hit…they are our brothers and sisters of America and they are in our prayers and thoughts surely….especialy how we have all grown to love the “Big Sky” state.

    • deanna valenti meyer says:

      Well put Jeff….well put…

Welcome to the Hobo Nation Terry & Janice! We are glad to have ya along for the ride. :)

  12. Flavia says:

how nice to wake up to such beauty!

  13. Dawn in IL says:

I am following Matt as well. I look forward to seeing on the map where he is. His journey across the US highlights that Americans are as giving as they have always been. Just takes someone like Matt to show us again how generous we are.

  14. katzien in austin says:

You know how a candle flame in a still room will ‘grow’ and become really still and tall and skinny?? These trees look like that as they’re reaching for the sky.

  15. charlie says:

to tell how tall a tree(or building or whatever) is, take the distance away from the object, at ground level, take the angle looking at the topmost point of the object, …….and then what? there’s a geometry equation in there somewhere, it’s just been too long ago for me to remember

  16. charlie says:

Just saw this article in the news posted 2.5 hours ago…… Jack Hanna wards off grizzly with pepper spray while hiking in Montana’s Glacier National Park….of course, once you read the article it says ‘the mother and one cub passed by and the other cub weighing 125 lbs (how did they know that, did they stop and take the weight?!?!?) charged so he sprayed it in the face and it ran away. it also says he recently taped a PSA for the national park service encouraging hikers to carry pepper spray.

    Good for you, Matt!

  17. carol says:

This is absolutely majestic !!! Say no more.

  18. Don in Tennessee says:

Welcome to the HOBO NATION (TERRY & JANICE) of internet walkers or is it gawkers?
Seriously, I have never been to your great state but I sure am getting a much better perspective and apprecaition for your wide open spaces and all of you friendly and kind hearted residents of BIG SKY COUNTRY!.

Have the trees grown into the clouds or have the clouds fallen to the treetops. Makes me remember when I was a kid and I climbed trees – makes me want to climb one of these and touch the clouds.

The HOBO NATION GROWS WITH FRESH NEW WALKIN’ FEET EVERYDAY!

    Thank you Matt Hobo Green!

  19. Sharon in MT says:

Here’s an invite to all the hobo nation to come to the Big Sky and see how incredible it is for yourselves. Less than a million people in the whole state and plenty of room to roam and wonderful, kind people at every turn. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.

    • MN Roxanne says:

I’m heading to WA in Sept. and looking forward to MT Big Sky along the way….. thanks for the invite!

  20. Marilyn (Iowa) says:

This is my first post, I have been following Matt as well. I had to comment on this part of the journey because my family is from Montana and WA State (I haven’t lived there in years) but it is so beautiful the landscape! (Makes me want to move back!)

  21. Janine says:

Welcome to the Hobo Nation, all newcomers!

  22. Anna One in CA says:

Hey, isn’t July 27 exactly 4 months since Matt set out?

  23. katzien in austin says:

Hey, you’re right Anna One!!! Happy 4th Anniversary Matt!!!
