Day 454

Good light, bad prices

March 28th, 2013

I've eaten a lot of egg-and-cheese sandwiches from bodegas on this walk. With lettuce and tomato, they usually set me back anywhere from $2 to $3.50. $1.50 is the lowest price I've ever paid; I've also had to cough up $4 or $4.50 on a couple of occasions.

This place? Five dollars! That apparently crossed some mental threshold for me. I was flabbergasted. "Five bucks?!" I asked. "Yeah, it's a special" was the guy's response.

Looks like it once could have been a nice looking looking Tudor-ish block before that market mucked it up with all that signage.
