In my experience, this is a common midwestern medium called “chainsaw art”. I spent a summer working at a camp in northern Indiana, and the guy who ran the grounds owned an assortment of these specialty chainsaws. I got to see a lot of his handiwork, as well as one of the best guys in the area working on a piece. I love the medium’s authenticity and lack of presumptuousness.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
