Also, I was recently reading about “general delivery” from the USPS and thought of your situation. You can have mail sent to a post office and held there until you pick it up. In case you need anything sent from “home base” in New York. Just a thought. http://www.usps.com/receive/choicesfordelivery/receivemailinotherplaces.htm
I think this is a great idea. Just the other day I was pushing the button to innocently cross the thoroughfare when I was struck by a bearded jolly Green miscreant pushing a cart across the country at an astonishing rate of speed. A guardrail probably would have saved my stash of baked beans from his terrifying wrath.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Looks like you’ll reach State College soon. Hope it’ll be a nice break from the more rural parts of the state. Just to give you a flavor in advance, see http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/396/1-Party-School .

Thanks Nick!
This is one of those “What were they thinking? NOT!” situations, obviously. Only thing missing to make this picture complete would be a handicap ramp.

Hey, it’s a well-known risk to carry a tin of beans into hobo country.
Must of been designed by some civil engineer daydreaming about walkin’ across the country :)
your tax dollars hard at work.
Which came first… The button, or the guardrail?
LOL Now, what were they thinkin’?
