Also: Isn't that list of ingredients scary?

  1. Thomas says:

Also the serving size is scary. People, it’s a small bag of chips. Do you really think you are fooling anybody by telling us that there are 140 calories per “serving” but the bag holds 1 1/2 servings? Well, I guess they probably are. Maybe they’d lose some sales if they said the bag had upwards of 210 calories. Seems way better if the rubes think the whole bag itself is under 150, doesn’t it?
Sorry, this is a pet peeve of mine. Just give us the container totals, please.

So cars have gotten cheaper relative to dresses?

  3. Jason Eppink says:

Judging from the evidence you’ve presented so far, middle American snack food companies are just super nostalgic.

  4. Yoni says:

If only they replaced that nasty ‘corn oil’ with pure, wholesome animal pork fat.

  5. Breann says:

im not sure theres much food in that “food”

  6. J Duncan says:

I loved how they discussed all of these nostalgic moments and THEN such a great transition…”Another simple pleasure was popcorn.” Awesome. I would love to shake the hand of the ad guy that submitted this. BS at its finest! Oh…and be sure to watch out for peanuts & tree nuts. I don’t even like Rocky Mtn oysters.

  7. Ronna says:

Holy Cow! I think there might be a potato flake hiding in there amongst the preservatives and additives and dried whatits. YIKES. What a funny contrast to the story on the right! “Aw shucks, we’re so homegrown and sweet, don’t mind while we poison you” LOL

  8. Emily Aronson says:

In the spirit of your mom, “it’s name”???? Copy edit, people!

  9. Barry says:

Disclaimer: Nowhere on that package does it state that the chips in the bag are same as those described on the right.

  10. Laurie says:

I’m thinking the “traditional” recipe didn’t include MSG, propyl gallate, essicum, propylene glycol or BHA. So weird that they put both of their faces on the same side of the package!

  11. Amber says:

We do still have the original chips here in waupaca!

  12. Gabe B says:

Please tell me you didn’t actually eat them?!!?!?!?

  13. Manticore says:

    Mmm Salt and Vinegar?

  14. Karen Too says:

When you said strange, it’s the ingredients that first got my attention, and then I read the other side of the bag. I’d say the ingredients are in the lead at the moment.

Glucona-deltone lactone? As it turns out, this is misspelled on the bag, but that’s not the worst of it. This stuff is used to kill termites. I dare them to put that info on their site, or on the bag. It’s supposed to be a natural additive, but I don’t think it belongs in our food.

  15. Sherry says:

So that’s why they put the interesting stories on the other side….so you don’t read the ingredients!

  16. Candice in Alabama says:

Sheesh – what about the Propylene glycol – I thought that was antifreeze! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propylene_glycol

  17. Roe says:

They look great to me, and that is not too many carbs in the entire package, approximately 24…
