Nothing spectacular, but at an elevation of 4624 feet, it's the highest altitude I've reached so far, and is less than 1000 feet lower than the pass I will take over the continental divide.
It's not really visible in this photo, but there's a snow-speckled mountain (another first for this trip!) just barely peeking out behind the trees in the background near the center of the shot.
I think I can make out the snow-speckled mountain, a bit off to the right of the road. More big, blue sky. Nice. Thanks for the facts, Matt.
yes – Karen Too – A bit off to the right – Flickr “zoom” made it visible to me! Now I can just barely see it in the blog image.
The natural High…goes actual!
Matt – Yesterday, continually looking at the Lewistown weather station tower camera website, which lists the altitude, I did wonder if the altitude was affecting you. You’ve got higher altitudes in your future! Breathe deep!
hmmmm, if Matt hooks back down towards Bozeman, he’ll end up back in Manhattan……Montana, that is!
Gradual climb..you think he would aclimate well without a problem. Looking around (his shots) I just would not think he was so far above sealevel. That might come from living 15 feet above sealevel most of my life.
at least it is not Everest….and he has the card…to coast downhill. When the end is near..I would cheat.
spell dork……. Cart not Card. One demerit for me.
You’re allowed one demerit, that’s it! I shoood tawk. I haav hade mi shar uf deemerits.
Chris you have me laughing. I do not have the jersey accent thing. My years in New York still dominate my accent,
so much I played Joey Biltmore in Guys and Dolls, local version of course. ..love the phonetic spelling thing.
Thanks!! for the laugh.
Fur shur.
Great photo! And a teaser about the excitement that awaits you too. I have to wonder….do you think the trip is going as you planned? Better? It’s been amazing for me….I’m just here at my desk having coffee. Thanks so much for sharing!!
I wonder how many hawks and eagles you’ll see? I hope a lot.
Matt will see Eagles West of town, as there has been a family of them there for a few years now, right out by the road. The mountains in the back, are the “Snowies”!
Awesome… the “Snowies” await you Matt! thanks for the info Nik….
Glad to see you’re still moving right along Matt! I’ve been watching your progress since Pennsylvania and now you’re halfway across my home state! Still 300 or so miles from Kalispell, but if you come close I’ll try to track you down and restock you with some fresh veggies!
From snow that fell here in April. I believe we had snow on April 29th. When everyone else was thinking SPRING we were bundling up and shoveling snow!! LOL
The scenery will be spectacular through the rest of MT and N. Idaho! Enjoy the mountains & wildlife…. got bear spray? Kidding, (sort of), they usually don’t show up too much on the main roads, but DO show up occasionally. ;-}
