The Eastern Washington Palouse varies so much from season to season. In June, the wheatfields are all incredibly green and where the road dips down between the hills all that can be seen is green and blue, blue sky — one of my favorite scenes in the world!
Michelle – I thought of the exact same shot and envisioned Matt laying amongst the petals, clicking the heels of his boots and repeating “there’s no place like home!” ; )
No, he’d be saying “There’s no place like Rockaway Beach, OR., there’s no place like Rockaway Beach”! he he. That way he’d get there faster and then get home. : )
Drove this road twice this past weekend while visiting daughter in Pullman and friends in St Maries, Idaho. Thought maybe you would come this way. The Palouse is very different and beautiful country. Suspect you will be rollin along the Columbia in no time. Rockaway is just around the corner. :)
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
What a great shot of wild flowers………wonder what is on the other side of the hills.
Love your pictures of the scenery…….miss the pictures of “the people that you meet as your walking down the street in our neighborhoods”
…put one foot in front of the other and soon you’ll be……..”
…more hills….
The emerald castle? “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home”
No – Emerald CITY! :)
Oops sorry – mis-read – yes the emerald Castle in Emerald City – I’m a thinking!

Lori any idea what kind of flowers we are looking at. Missed these kind of shots….stunning realy.
Good one.
It’s like a field of fluff! I wanna jump on it! (if I knew I wouldn’t hurt it, or myself for that matter )
Wild Daisies?
Marigolds?
Reminds me of the poppy fields shot in the Wizard of Oz. Makes me want to roll in it. Good shot Matt.
Peace, from Michelle in Providence

Lovely….. I want to go there now. :)
Field of Flowers – we don’t see that here in Alabama. You might happen on a road side stretch where wildflower seeds have been sown. Love it!
Perty Perty Perty!!! And it looks like popcorn….my favorite muchie. ;-)
It looks like chamomile flowers to me. They grow wild in Eastern Washington.
The Palouse’s rolling hills and wheat fields are so serene and beautiful, unlike anywhere else I’ve ever seen.
i think this may be the field where the wicked witch planted all the poppies!!!!!
sorry i didn’t know that had already been posted . so n”ditto” michelle
