I kept thinking KitKat! A new river for me – never heard of the Klickitat River – And for some reason it’s very hard for me to pronounce. Klicki-tat? Klick-it-at?

I’m glad Matt is enjoying such beautiful scenery AND that Matt is sharing it with us!

Candice…we have a TON of Indian names in this area and it’s so neat to see that part of our history still exists all around. I pronounce it the first way you have listed…but not sure if that’s actually correct.

  6. Steve in WI says:

Matt, if you would like to retravel your route, I think after you get to Rockaway Beach all you will need to do is go back to Portland and get on Amtrack, you have almost followed the route from Chicago to Portland. It is time for you to sit back and relax after your walk and let them take you homeward.

  7. John in MI says:

    I just love that name…Klickitat.

  8. Karen Too says:

Klickitat, Klickitat, Klickitat…sounds like the trains running by on the tracks by the river.

    • Dorinda from Mentor, Oh. says:

Wouldn’t that be Klickety-klack, klickety-klack? I’m just sayin’ to me it’s what it sounds like.

  9. Lori Fales says:
