Day 118

April 26th, 2012

Opened in 1970, Westbeth was the first and is still the largest federally subsidized artists’ colony in the US. The buildings that house it were once the headquarters of Bell Labs, one of the world's great centers of innovation.

  1. Gigi says:

Today’s google doodle commemorates the birthday of Keith Haring, and I read in one of the articles that his first solo exhibition in New York was held at Westbeth.

  2. tna says:

I saw my first Mary Cassatt yesterday. I had been wanting to meet her for a very long time.
Her brush strokes are pure poetry, heavy, thick, and wild.
