Day 573

Moda

July 25th, 2013

Completed around 1929, this sturdy-looking stone and brick edifice was originally the Queens Borough Public Library's Central Library, and was later home to the Queens County Family Court. It has since been largely engulfed by Moda, the sleek 12-story apartment building rising behind it (check out this bird's-eye rendering to see what I mean), with its facade incorporated into the new structure. The development also features one of downtown Jamaica's very few full-service restaurants (at right).
