I'm walking every street in New York City.
This is the counterpoint to
my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city.

Your donations allow me to keep walking full-time. If you think what I'm doing is valuable and you'd like to offer some support, I would be very grateful. On the other hand, if you think I'm a worthless bum, feel free to email me and tell me to get a job, bozo. Both are excellent options!
“LET’S NOT LOSE IT!” is a reference to the firehouse seen in the background flying the American flag. Engine 294 / Ladder 143 was once on the list of houses subject to closure. The mural illustrates the fierce opposition from the community to any reduction in service. There is a sign of gratitude to the community for its support on the front of the firehouse.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the info! I posted a photo of that firehouse, and wrote a little bit about it, here. Engine Company 294 was in fact disbanded because of budget cuts in 1991, but a strong push by the community led to its resurrection in 1994. It had also previously been closed for budgetary reasons between 1975 and 1981.
