  1. katzien in austin says:

Ba ha ha ha! And I was expecting a group photo of a bunch of ole’ guys with silly grins on their faces. I can picture them in my head. ;-)

  2. Don in Tennessee says:

    Matt

This is an organization of people who beleive in a Supreme Being. Also known as “The Three Link Fraternity” which stands for Friendship, Love and Truth. It was started in 17th Century England because it was odd to find organized people

  3. Don in Tennessee says:

    (Submiited By Mistake)
Continued – giving aid to those in need and or pursuing projects for the benefit of all mankind.

Sounds like a wonderful giving organization!

  4. Ei says:

We had an IOOF building on my walk to school every day growing up, my mother was part of Daughters of Rebekah. I thought they were known all over!

  5. Jeff says:

Ahhh anothef one of those great american secret code clubs. At least it is all about the supreme being. But don’t they all say that…….

I too was expecting a picture of a bunch of guys from a dinner.

  6. Peacenik in Oregon says:

My son got married at the local Odd Fellows hall. Seemed kind of appropriate…

  7. David says:

My greatgrandmother and her daughters were all Odd Fellows.

  8. Gayle Opie says:

I have the paper from when my great-grandfather transferred his membership from his lodge in Ohio to the one in his new home in South Dakota. That was from 1886. That Odd Fellows hall was in my hometown when I was a kid and when my daughter was, too. The building is still there, I think, but I don’t know if the organization still has members there. At one time, they were sort of competition to the Masons, I think.

  9. Anna One in CA says:

I grew up in Sacramento, California where Heard of them all my life; I thought they were everywhere! : ) Then there’s the BPOE…Benevalent Protective Order of the Elks…

    • Mike says:

Anna, I grew up in Sacramento as well and now I live in Dickinson where Matt took this picture. I, too, have always heard of them. It STILL strikes me as funny! By the way, the BPOE main office for North Dakota is also located in Dickinson and serves a great steak dinner. Couldn’t find elk on the menu….

  10. Hilary says:

The first time I heard about them was after visiting the Oddfellows Cafe in Seattle. (It’s actually a beautiful space and they had an amazing, just baked peach coffee cake which I will remember forever.)

  11. Nicole says:

I’ve got to admit I’m disappointed. Not the odd fellows I was hoping to find.

  12. Jim in AR via MN says:

But Matt…I suppose from many people’s point of view…you would be an “odd fellow”…but to your many “follower friends”…I’d say you are a “hero”…and if a phone both were handy…a “super-hero”…

  13. lurker says:

I have a friend who took some wedding photos in front of the order’s building here in Hawai’i! :)

  14. Allison says:

There is a great Oddfellows building here in Victoria, BC. It’s a bit shabby around the edges these days, but still looks classically lovely inside. It’s also massive, standing as tall as the banks on either side of it.

  15. Lynn says:

We have an Odd Fellows hall here in Molde, Norway.
