The most majestic mountains so far

I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out. If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania. You can read all about the details of my trip if you're so inclined.

Yes Craig it sure is. Some elevations stay snowcapped year round.

Wish you could take a detour, Matt, and hike Glacier National Park. We just did Grinnell Glacier hike (11 miles) and I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Spectacular doesn’t even say it well enough. Maybe you could plan a trip there sometime in the future.
My daily devotion brought your journey to mind: Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old pathe, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls (Jeremiah 6:16).

We did “going to the sun” road through Glacier a few days ago on our Motorcycle. Wish we had some more time to do some hiking. That’s the way to really see it. Ginnell Glacier is where Jack Hanna pepper-sprayed a griz the other day! The Mission Mts. shown in Matt’s photo here ARE spectacular, but they pale in comparison to Glacier Park Mountains!
The last time I was in MT doing “going to the sun” road it was rainy and we missed out on all the beauty… I do hope to get back there soon.
I agree Glacier National Park is amazing….the mountains look bigger for some reason in glacier area…

From the vines to the mountains and the little tiny house in between. Just spectacular. The building in the distance there is dwarfed up against the majesty of the mountains. Just awesomer.
And yes, they really do turn purple in the right light. It kind of makes you gasp, and then the song gets stuck in your head…

They look like the Missions to me as well. I’m not sure exactly where Matt is, I haven’t looked at his map lately, but the Missions were my first thought.
Just looked at the map, appears this was taken just east of St. Ignatius….they would be the Missions. We’re right!
I believe the mountains just East of St. Ignatius are called the Mission Mts. (named for the historic mission in St. I). I’m in N. Idaho, not Montana, but have spent a lot of time in beautiful big sky country.

Yeah Craig from NC…There is snow all through summer on the mountain tops (Ice Glaciers) anyways i heard there was a small forest fire in the bob marshaL Forest luckely matt never ran across it, I just read it was in paper yesturday..Matts gonna walk next to the Flat Head Lake next its a huge lake…goodluck MAtt
If I’m not mistaken, Matt’s planned route takes him West on Hwy 200 towards Paradise, Plains & Thomspon Falls, along the Flathead & Clark Fork Rivers, not Flathead Lake. Flathead Lake IS INDEED stunningly beautiful & huge, but it’s a few miles farther North. The rivers will provide beautiful scenery & I’ll be Matt posts pics of the during the next few days.
