Day 11

A night with Marie and John

April 6th, 2010

Pennsylvania does it again! I was lucky enough to meet another wonderful couple last night, Marie and John. Marie fed me her world-famous lasagna (plus strawberry shortcake!), and then John and I watched Butler almost pull off an amazing upset over Duke. They gave me a bed for the night to keep me out of the rain, and made sure I had a full stomach when I left this morning, as well as a bagged lunch for the road (Marie: "Well, I had to pack one for me anyway, so...").

Thank you to all you wonderful Pennsylvanians! You have no idea how grateful Matt’s parents are that you are watching over him.

Glad you’ve been meeting lots of nice people and seeing lots of neat things! Can’t wait to see the travels unfold!

  4. Emily Aronson says:

I seriously am almost crying reading through all of your posts and people’s comments. I am so touched by everyone’s generosity and hospitality. With all the craziness in the world, it’s refreshing to know that there are so many wonderful people out there (who are checking in on you here!). Sitting here in my cubicle, I’m really wishing I were out on the open road with you, meeting all these folks (Nancy and Dennis, Marie and John, Rev. Jen, etc.) :-). But, alas, I’ll have to settle for living vicariously.

  5. Jessamyn says:

    I’m tearing up!

  6. Jonathan says:

Of Matt, my co-worker Lizz says, “He’s the real deal!” And then, in consolation to me, “And you’re his brother!”

  7. Renee says:

So glad I found this site! I am so touched by all of the beautiful kind hearts you are encountering! I love that people are opening their homes and their wallets for you! America the Beautiful, indeed.
