Asterisks

I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out. If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania. You can read all about the details of my trip if you're so inclined.

It does look like sand… the weed “asterisks” make cute shadows… almost like fireworks!
It does look like sand, that was my first thought to. Is this actually rock though? I bet Glenda and Chaser1 would know. Unusual shot, different.
I believe that IS SAND – perhaps from a dry wash/creek/riverbed/road culvert.

I see sand, I am from jersey…I should know…kidding aside…you can almost imaging Matt taking the shot…looking at the photo and saying….. I love this shot for it’s simplicity. The small “rivers” in the sand give it a “Mars” like appearance. Cool,
I don’t know Jeff, it still could be rock. Don’t forget I live near a body of water, Lake Erie and have seen sand. I know plants grow up in the sand but they grow up through rocks as well. I mean, he’s in Montana for heavens sake, where’s he gonna find sand like that??
