Day 113

It was a sign

July 17th, 2010

Suzie and Dale had heard about me and knew I would be passing through their area, so Dale made a big, encouraging sign for me and put it up next to the highway. But, as you may recall, I was not on the highway yesterday, so I didn't pass the sign. What I did happen to pass, however, was their house! They came out when they saw me and invited me in to spend the night. When I hit the road again this morning, I was a happy traveler: clean, well-fed, and shorn (Suzie gave me a haircut).

  1. How cool is that!!! What are the odds of something like that happening? Coincidence? I think not, it was meant to be. How lucky they are to have that happen and meet you and you are to have met them. And the fact that you didn’t even know they had made a sign for you. Way cool. Very awesome people. Glad they took good care of you. Good looking couple too. Yeah Suzie and Dale and Matt.!

  2. Dennis in So Cal says:

Wahoo Suzie & Dale!! That’s great stuff right there…taking care of Matt like that. Way to go!!

Matt…as part of the Hobo Nation…I, for one, am glad you have been fed, had the ability to shower AND got a haircut. YES!!!!

Really though, it’s so great to witness the good people of this country coming together to help others. Definitely wears down the negative thoughts I’ve had about our great nation lately.

    Sleep well tonight Matt…

    • Jim in AR via MN says:

I know how you feel…we all listen, read and watch too much media, I guess…but these are the “Real People” I talk about…this is the real America…good people, giving and loving without much payback but feeling good about doing something good…it there, all over America…and Matt has shown all of us this truth…I love it…and will allow these feelings to fill me more than the other “stuff” we get so much of…

  5. Mom says:

Thank you, Suzie and Dale, for welcoming and taking such good care of our son I’m sure he was shaggy!

  6. Jeff says:

It was a sign in many ways. Don’t even have to go there..Thanks Suzie and Dale. Most especialy for putting out the welcome sign, both seen and unseen. And you even gave him a haircut. I bet you got a good tip….a bit of Matt humor. Priceless.

Thanks for being great people to a great person. Welcome to our Hobo Nation!. What say you tribe??

  8. Oye! says:

Many thanks to Suzie and Dale for taking care of Matt.
Hes styling now with the new “do”.

    • Yeah, Matt’s “Stylin’ & Profilin’ “now on his way down the road. Look good Matt, look good.
(for those who may not know the reference “stylin’ & profilin’ ” it’s a catch phrase of The Nature Boy Rick Flair of WWF, WWE, WCW, TNA as well as NWA fame. A pro wrestler. Whooooo!)

      • Jeff says:

Dorinda If your into wrestling…do you happen to know of my cousin from Pittsburgh? He won Olympic Gold then went onto the pro wrestling. He goes by the Name Kurt Engle. Flesh and Blood. How bout them apples.

        • Gabsch says:

Ohhhhh, wooowwww, ooooohhhh, a real celebrity? In your family? Them apples must be amazing! Do you get to go to the matches?

        • No Way! Kurt Angle is YOUR cousin???? For real?? Of course I know who Kurt is. Wow. Send me a line and we’ll have to talk about this one. Yeah.

          • Jeff says:

Got your attention. I will see you on the other side – about this. Later today. Way. For Real. At family reunions he and I both wear “red” name tags…so that is blood kin to our rules.

Wow – you are a serious fan. Good Morning, by the way.

            • Oh very serious fan. My son to. He’s like a walking, breathing history book. His brain remembers so many facts about all the wrestlers, what happened when, who was involved, etc. Been to shows, Survivor series once-with floor seats to! Oh yeah, we gotta talk. : )

  9. Ruthie of CA says:

Suzie and Dale you ROCK! Thank you for taking in our Matt…It is another good day indeed.

  10. Julie in Cincinnati says:
