I'm walking every street in New York City.
This is the counterpoint to
my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city.

Your donations allow me to keep walking full-time. If you think what I'm doing is valuable and you'd like to offer some support, I would be very grateful. On the other hand, if you think I'm a worthless bum, feel free to email me and tell me to get a job, bozo. Both are excellent options!
Well, isn’t that a cozy spot to curl up a read a book! NOT!
I don’t know..let me sit and think about it.

Now, Matt…I have never even “been” to New York…but I know one thing, I think…there are people who live there…this is a good moment (with the empty chair present) to ask…”Where are the people.”…I think you ran into more people on the back roads and plains of North Dakota and Montana…than you have so far on this trek…are they “in hiding”???…are you getting out too early???…or are New Yorkers just so unfriendly???…anyone offer you a pizza other sustenance???…maybe they are all in cars, trains or buildings…but not on the street???…just a question…I know others must have the same question…I love all the history and the buildings…but miss the interaction…
It’s a matter of photographic style. He’s looking to document places and objects. Many images show people but not much personality. Remember he needs to cover a lot of ground in one day. If he were to document the people he meets, it would be a totally different project that would need 10x the time. Being a NYer, I know for sure he is meeting and interacting with many people, he just can’t spend much time portraying it. I have to say he has a keen eye. I can walk down the same streets he did and totally overlook the things he photographs or dismiss it as uninteresting.
I once thought of photographing every building in my Bronx neighborhood, Highbridge. I can’t conceive of walking the whole city. I wonder if Matt actually took lots of pictures that show individual personalities of those he met. Maybe he’s saving them for a new project.
I just love this photo. Beautiful!
What a great shot. Would be perfect for a “trash the dress” photo shoot!
