Interesting. My parents experienced blue laws where all stores had to close on Sunday. Even today some states aren’t allowed to sell liquor on Sunday so they close that section of the store. And there are dry counties where the sale of alcoholic beverages is illegal 24/7. I need to google Shabbat.
I believe, and Matt please correct me if I’m wrong as I’m not Jewish, Shabbat is the Sabbath for Jews?
It’s good to see store fronts closed on a Sabbath, or Shabbat as this is.
Matt with you being Jewish, practising or not, you know all the lingo that we don’t. Could you put a little explanation in sometimes? Thanks.
Washington is still a state that will not sell hard alcohol on Sunday’s. That will soon change as of July 1st because the state is finally getting out of the hard liquor business. My husband is a happy man. :)
This is the counterpoint to my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city. Details!
Your donations allow me to keep walking full-time. If you think what I'm doing is valuable and you'd like to offer some support, I would be very grateful. On the other hand, if you think I'm a worthless bum, feel free to email me and tell me to get a job, bozo. Both are excellent options!
