Honoring the local men who "died to keep you living without fear"
This tank is part of the old southeastern Queens groundwater supply system.
The Shareholders of Bell Park Gardens honor the memory of those Firefighters, Police Officers, Emergency Service Personnel and all others who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.The lower plaque states that Bell Park Gardens was the "first all veterans mutual housing development in the United States of America".
We also appreciate the valiant and courageous efforts of all who participated and assisted in the recovery effort.
This tree was just planted a few hours ago (it's right up the block from this one), and one of its support posts has already become a trash bag holder.
A Groundswell-organized group of "youth artists" painted this mural last summer on a wall outside the Broadway Junction subway station. More photos here.

This building's drapes have never matched its carpet, but this latest incarnation looks positively Frankensteinian.
