It's this enormous FreshDirect video billboard. With a screen size well in excess of 5000 square feet (how many NYC apartments could fit in that space?), it's the largest outdoor LED billboard in the world.

I'm walking every street in New York City.
This is the counterpoint to my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city. Details!

Is it even legal? The light from that thing has got to be blinding. Especially when you’re on the freeway driving. Seems like a major road/driver hazard to me. Who needs to be distracted by texting when you have this ginormous thing in your face.
5.19 of my houses could fit in that. Isn’t a little excessive!?!
Hideous. NYC must be getting some kind of kickback to allow this horror.
Imagine, too, the cost of running it, and I don’t mean just dollars.

It is LED so it’s not supposed to use much electricity. However, I think it is hideous too.
