Memorial to the 87

January 29th, 2012



On March 25, 1990 — the 79th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company fire — 87 people were killed in an arson fire at the illegal Happy Land Social Club in the Bronx.

    Yep. I remember when this horror happened at the social club.

    Obviously, there is never a good reason for such a tragedy, and this one was over an argument with a girlfriend.

    Wow, My father was on a ten man task force with the Fire Marshalls called the social club task force created because of this tragedy and over crowding and not enough exits in illegal social clubs in NYC. I never saw the memorial.
