Looks like laundry hung out to dry.
I also thought “so that’s what people do with their old sneakers when they get a new pair.” They fling ’em up on a wire.
Just hope they aren’t some kind of “stolen shoes off people” trophies.
I watched a tv special once – I think it was one of those Extreme Makeover shows – where there were shoes hanging over wires like this. They said it was a signal that drugs are available in the neighborhood.
That is crazy, they’re more shoes on those wires than on Palm Beach in my neighborhood…..Impressive.I personally don’t think it is gang related but more of a way to express yourself.
while on a tour of south central, LA. The guide said that when a gang kills a rival on their patch, they chuck the shoes up on the wires as a warning to others.
This is the counterpoint to my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city. Details!
Your donations allow me to keep walking full-time. If you think what I'm doing is valuable and you'd like to offer some support, I would be very grateful. On the other hand, if you think I'm a worthless bum, feel free to email me and tell me to get a job, bozo. Both are excellent options!
I have to ask, do shoes on a wire have a meaning? Anyone, anyone, Bueller?
the way the economy is I’m sure many of the former owners of those shoes wish they had them back
Impressive, indeed…and kinda pretty! :O)
